Kaqlawao County
This county is said to have the best commute situation with an average commute time of 4.5 minutes which is 22.6 minutes shorter than the average commute time in Hawaii. 0% of the people working here commute longer than an hour a day. 41% of the workforce leaves for work between the hours of 12 AM and 6 AM. A large number of residents here commute out of the county to work at about 80.9%. A large number of workers drive alone to get to work at 93.2%.
Kauai County
The average commute time of those living in Kauai County is 21.5 minutes which is just 5.6 minutes shorter than the average. About 3.7% of workers have a commute longer than 60 minutes per day. Only 0.5% of workers commute outside of the county. About 77.3% drive in their car on their own.
Hawaii County
The average time to get to work when you live in Hawaii county is 26.8 minutes which is only 0.3 minutes shorter than the average. A significant number of workers commute to work for more than one hour a day at 10%. Only about 0.8% of those living in Hawaii county work outside of the county. And about 70.8% of people drive in their car on their own, 15.7% carpool, 2.3% walk to work, one percent use public transportation, and 8.6% of those who live in Hawaii county work from home.
Honolulu County
Honolulu being the most urban and busy area in Hawaii has an average commute time of 28.4 minutes which is 1.3 minutes longer than the average for Hawaii. About 10.6% of the workers in Honolulu County have a commute longer than 60 minutes. About 23% of the workforce leaves for work between 12 AM and 6 AM.
