Kihei is one of the most consistently sunny locations on the island of Maui. This has brought a collection of resorts to the town as well as a few golf courses and many great homes. The beaches are well loved because the sun is almost always out. There are plenty of activities to enjoy both day and night in the town and hardly ever any rain to slow you down. 

Things to Do in Kihei

Kamaole Beach Park

 Possibly one of the most popular beaches in the town among the many great beaches located here. It is a series of three beach parks and each is best loved for its own amazing activities. Beach Park, one is on the north and is best loved for swimming. Beach three on the south end is the smallest and rockiest of the three but has a great grassy space. The water has great waves that many love to utilize for boogie boarding. Beach two in the middle is great for snorkeling because of the sandy bottom and light surf.

Maui Ocean Center

Not technically in Kihei but just a few miles around my Maalaea Bay. There are more than 60 exhibits at the Ocean Center allowing visitors to learn all there is to know about the waters and the animals living in them around Hawaii. The living reef is a big hit as is the turtle lagoon.

Maui Brewing Company

You can take a 60-minute guided tour showing you around the brewhouse, cellar, and packaging line and a chance to taste flagship beers. This is a well-established brand in Hawaii that produces a popular range of beers and sodas that are found in stores all around Hawaii and the United States.

Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge

This is one of the few preserved natural wetlands in Hawaii found off of N. Kihei Rd. It was founded in 1992 and expands across 700 acres along where Maui's central valley meets the southern coast. This is a seasonal habitat for many endangered birds and waterfowl such as the Hawaiian stilt. This is an amazing place for nature lovers to take in one of the most interesting preserved natural areas on the island.

Learning About Humpbacks

Kihei is one of the best spots to go humpback whale watching and to enhance your whale watching trip you can also take a visit to the Humpback Sanctuary Visitor Center. You can learn about the efforts of the sanctuary to protect these gentle giants as well as borrow a pair of binoculars to spy them from land.

Fourth Friday

Every fourth Friday since the year 2012 the Azeka Shopping Center is bursting with fun activities. You can enjoy street performers, arts and crafts stands, food trucks, and live music. This is a family-friendly event that also has a Kidzone specifically geared toward fun activities kids love.
